Green list countries to visit

Hurray!

For my UK followers, I hear you breathing a sigh of relief that the country is opening up and travelling is back on the cards. The UK government has released a green list (Portugal, Israel, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Brunei, Iceland, Gibraltar, Falkland Islands, Faroe Islands, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, St Helena, Tristan de Cunha, Ascension Island) countries. These are countries that UK residents can visit on vacation and not need to quarantine on return to the UK.

If you are excited about this, below is my list of top 3 green list countries and what to do.

Portugal

Where to stay in Portugal

Albufeira – a holiday resort town, located on the coast of Portugal. It has stunning beaches, a beautiful marina lined with expensive boats and a busy nightlife. Albufeira is the place to go if you are looking for a luxurious or mid-range holiday.

Lisbon – is the capital of Portugal set on the hills, thereby offering stunning views of the city from different vantage points. This is one of the most popular city destinations to visit in Europe. As with other locations in Portugal, it has fantastic seafood and wine on offer.

Madeira – this is an autonomous region in Portugal, with good weather all year round. Madeira is set against a backdrop of tropical rainforests and mountains with gorgeous views. The nature that surrounds this island is thrilling and all you should have on your mind, is exploring.

What to do in Portugal

Boat cruise – seeing Portugal from the sea is part of the experience so if you cannot afford a private boat cruise, join the group one’s and see this city from the waters.

Old town – if you are in Lisbon, Madeira or Albufeira, make sure you visit the old town. This part of the city is different and definitely worth a visit.

Time in the sun – lay on the beach, walk the promenade in Albufeira and enjoy some lazy time in the sun.

Israel

Israel! Israel! Israel!

I have a complicated relationship with Israel especially over its treatment of the Palestinians. My wish is for honest leaders across the world that would advocate and fight for justice for the Palestinians.

Regardless of this situation, I believe people should still travel to every country and even countries like Israel. If not, we absolve ourselves from the situation, never get to see people for who they really are and never learn their truth.

Israel caters to large numbers of Christian pilgrims every year, who are seeking to follow the footsteps of Jesus Christ. The other crowd Israel caters to is the party going, sun seeking, beach loving crowd. Israel has an amazing coastline with stunning beaches, a thriving nightlife and it is the gay capital of the world.

Where to stay in Israel

To enjoy Israel, spend 4 nights in Tel-Aviv to properly take in and enjoy the scene and then 2 nights in Jerusalem.

Tel Aviv Beach – the sunset in Tel Aviv is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. The beach is beautiful, clean and it has a promenade which runs along the Mediterranean coast, giving you a beautiful sight to behold.

Red Sea – floating on the dead sea should be on everyone’s bucket list. This is the lowest place on earth, and it is believed that the dead sea has healing powers. So, make sure to get in there and give yourself a mud bath.

Basilica of the Annunciation – this is where it was revealed to Mary that she will carry baby Jesus. This site is significant in the Christian faith and if you are not a Christian, the history and murals makes it worth a visit.

Singapore

This is one of my favorite countries to visit. There is a perfect blend of nature, interesting things to do, amazing people and good food on offer. Everything about Singapore will delight you and if you make it here, you will not be disappointed.

I have a detailed post on Singapore, so go read that for my full thoughts on visiting this country.

On another note, I have been on maternity leave for the last one (1) year, it is time to go back to work and I am dreading this life change. However, as the boss that I am, I am going to brave it up and kick ass as I usually do.

Wish me luck people, get your holidays booked and go kick some ass this week. xx
